Lucky Bush
Lucky Bush is a retired 30-year United States Air Force Command Chief Master Sergeant from
Mobile, Alabama, who began playing drums at age 11. He was drawn to music at a young age
and inspired by his mother, who had taught him to sing years earlier.
Lucky studied percussion with Dr. John Papastephan at the University of South Alabama and Dr.
J.C. Combs at Wichita State University. While in college at Wichita State, Lucky studied drum
set with Ed Soph, Steve Houghton, and Matt Wilson and performed in numerous musical
situations from orchestral to Caribbean steel drum music.
Throughout his military career, Lucky traveled the World with the Air Force’s Premier
Entertainment Group, “Tops in Blue,” and toured Europe with the United States Air Force’s in
Europe Concert and Jazz Bands.
Lucky has worked with a myriad of musical groups across the United States, Germany, Belgium,
and Japan, and continues to play a variety of musical styles from the ’40s to the millennium.
Lucky is currently the drummer and backup vocalist for CMA Artist, Ryan Daniel.
